Blessed are the merciful
Preacher: Bob Bryant | Series: Blessed Are
Matthew 5:1 His disciples… 2 He taught them, saying:
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of
heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons
of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’
sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 18:33 “Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow slave, in the same way that I had mercy on you?”
Luke 6:27 “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. 32 But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 35 But love your enemies, do good… hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great. 36 Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.”
Luke 10:36 “So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?” 37 And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”
Matthew 9: 12 Jesus said to them… 13”Go and learn what this means ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice. For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
James 2:2 If there should come into your assembly a man with gold rings, in fine apparel, and there should also come in a poor man in filthy clothes, 3 and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, “You sit here in a good place,” and say to the poor man, “You stand there,” 4 have you not shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts? 13 For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
