THE PURE IN HEART

I Samuel 13:14 “The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart.”

16:7 “The Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Psalm 51 A Psalm of David when Nathan the prophet went to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.

3 I acknowledge my transgressions… 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. 12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation. 14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed. 16 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart—These, O God, You will not despise.

Psalm 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me and know my anxious thoughts; 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1.Please read this promise made by Jesus: Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Matthew 5:8

 2.Please review the significance of these passages about David as you consider this picture:

“The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart.” 1 Samuel 13:14

 “The Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

 3.What do you think the Lord is saying to you personally from these two verses?

4.Please review the story behind this picture of David and his introduction to Psalm 51: A Psalm of David when Nathan the prophet went to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.

5.Can you tell about a time that you were like David in this passage and picture?
